Eyes shut, volunteers try to feel experience of visually impaired
They have never felt the sun on their faces like they did on Wednesday , never found the smells from restaurants so appetizing and they have never depended on others so badly . These were some of the first reactions from a group of volunteers who played blind just to feel the experience of the visually impaired when they are in public spaces. The experiment was prompted by the fact that very few visually impaired people or those with other disabilities are seen unwinding in public places.
Esha, an NGO that makes Braille visiting and greeting cards and holds workshops to sensitize people to the special skills and needs of the visually challenged, conceptualized the blind walk.
