A group of eight students of a private business school in Sector 44 have caught the attention of the district administration on the traffic chaos in the city. After spending months approaching officials with possible solutions to manage traffic at the busy Sector 44-45 crossing, the students from the School of Inspired Leadership have finally been able to get traffic cops deployed at the spot.
Over the last five years, this stretch has become host to offices of more than 16 new companies, a private hospital and a five-star hotel. Despite being a sector road, traffic during peak hours is a mess because there are no traffic lights or cops.
“Every day for the past several months, when we commute between our hostel and college, we face a traffic logjam at the Sector 44-45 junction. Many a time, we got down to manage traffic here. But we didn’t know how to take it up with the administration. Once we were aware of the legal procedure, we decided to resolve the issue in a systematic manner,” said Ishdeep Singh, a team member.
