ANIL SACHDEV

Founder and CEO, School of Inspired Leadership

MBA, Former Founder Eicher Consultancy Services

 

Anil is the Founder and CEO of the School of Inspired Leadership. Presently, he also serves as the dean of SOIL. Anil has been adjunct Faculty to leading business schools such as Indian School of Business, Kelly School of Business, Indiana University, GMI, Flint Michigan, Antioch University, Seattle and Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. Given his belief in the power of education, Anil decided to create SOIL- the School of Inspired Leadership to provide management education with focus on ethics, community partnerships, sustainability and other leadership aspects that the world of today badly needs.

Recognized as a thought leader in talent management, leadership development and organizational transformation, Anil has spoken at national and global conferences all over the world and has written contributory pieces for leading publications. He is active in management circles and has held several public offices such a Chairman of National Committee on Industrial relations and Regional Committee on Human Resource Development of Confederation Indian Industry. Anil serves as the Trustee of the Chinmaya Mission, an inspiring ‘Not for Profit’ Institution and the Charities Aid Foundation, a global NGO. He has received several National Awards including ‘The HR Professional of the Year’.

In 2012, Anil was re-appointed as the Chair of the CII National Committee on Leadership Development for the year 2012-13. He has also been appointed as a member of CEDEP Academic Committee. CEDEP is an Executive Education Consortium, founded in 1970 in association with INSEAD to design and develop innovative open enrollment, company specific programs for its members. CEDEP today brings together 22-member companies from a wide range of countries including the USA, India, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Australia. Mr. Sachdev was also awarded the Learning Luminary Award, in recognition of his sustained, path-defining contributions to the sphere of Learning & OD by the Learning and Organization Development Roundtable, a not-for-profit society driving the cause of Learning & Organizational Development (L & OD) across India and Asia.

After completing his MBA from the University of Pune in 1975 Anil joined Tata Motors and then the Eicher Group in 1978. In 1991, he became the founder CEO of Eicher Consultancy Services and later brought A.T. Kearney to India. He later founded Grow Talent – the leading player in Education and HR Consulting.

AMRITA LALLJEE

Visiting Faculty, Pillars of Inspired Leadership through Theatre

BA (Hons) Psychology, Prominent Theatre Artist

 

In a teaching career spanning 17 years, Amrita has taught students of all ages, and across several educational systems, and now combines her love for teaching and for theatre in ways that are meaningful to students and herself. She has been teaching theatre at the Shri Ram School and The National Open School. She also teaches a Practicum Course in “Drama in Exploration” at the University of Delhi to students of the Bachelor’s in Elementary Education Program.

She has been organizing workshops for students in various aspects of Theatre Production with the ultimate objective that some among them will be inspired to do it on their own for school as well as for other events. She has also worked on a film project with a documentary film maker, Ein Lal, under the auspices of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage). This is one of many films that are being made for schools with the objective of sensitizing young people to different cultures that exist in India.

Amrita Lalljee uses Drama as a medium to work with students with special needs in the areas of confidence building, stress relief, team building and self-acceptance and empowerment for the past three years.

Amrita has been trained in, and delivered 32 sessions of a devised piece in Theatre-In-Education to Primary Schools in Leeds in England in 2002. The piece was part of their curriculum and was based on George Elliot’s Silas Marner.

She has graduated as a B.A. (Hons) in Psychology from Jesus and Mary College, New Delhi. She has also submitted a dissertation on “A comparative study on creativity in children from Formal / Traditional schools and Non-formal / Open schools”.


DR. PAUL TOLCHINSKY

Visiting Faculty, Whole Systems Change

Paul has been consulting to major public and private corporations around the world for the past thirty-five years. He has extensive experience in creating and implementing business strategy; managing and facilitating large system change efforts; new plant design and entrepreneurial start-ups; and redesigning and restructuring organizations (both public and private). Paul’s expertise is in the design of organizations, applying socio-technical principles and Whole-Scale™ Change Approaches to the process of change in organizations. He is internationally known as a pioneer in the development of Whole-Scale (Whole System) Approaches to change. He is currently focused on Leadership and Leadership challenges in the 21st century and works closely with leaders as they explore what they must do to mobilize, energize and invigorate their organizations.

He has co-authored of two books: Whole-Scale Change: Unleashing the Magic in Organizations (Berrett Koehler, 2000) and Unleashing the Magic: A Toolkit (2000). In addition to his numerous articles, his work is featured in Large Group Interventions (Bunker and Alban, 1997), Fusion Leadership, Daft and Lengel (1998) and The Change Handbook: Group Methods for Shaping the Future, Holman and Devane (1999), and Holman, Devane and Cady, (2005). Dr. Tolchinsky is listed in Who’s Who in Science and Technology and Who’s Who in the Midwest. He holds a BA in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University (1971) and a Ph.D. in Organization Behavior and Design from Purdue University.

DR. SWAMINATHAN SABESAN

Swaminathan is from a behavioral science background with a doctorate in Organizational Behavior. He did his post-doctoral diploma in training and development from ISTD, New Delhi. His 20 years of professional experience includes teaching, research, facilitation, assessment, mentoring, coaching, administration and institution building.

He is a motivational speaker and has addressed various forums like NIPM, ISTD and MMA. He has appeared in talks shows of Kalaignar TV and Moon TV. He has authored courseware on Psychology and Human Resource Management for many South Indian Universities. He has published several articles in journals of repute and presented papers at National and International conferences.

As a qualified psychologist, he standardized and administered several psychometric tests to thousands of professionals and non- professionals across his professional career and they are widely used in many organizations. Thomas International certified him on Thomas personal profile analysis. He is also a consultant to some MNCs. He has the privilege of working closely with more than 50 CEOs in connection with their developmental needs.

He was the university first rank holder and also the recipient of several awards that include “Psychometric Educational Services award for the valuable services and contributions to Human Resource Development” by the Chief Minister of Pondicherry. He was the All India Merit Awardee of Indian Society for Training and Development, New Delhi. He works passionately on improving the quality of life and helps people reach their true potential through the power of positive psychology and Emotional Intelligence.

Currently, he is the Director- Programs & Research, Executive and Business Coaching Foundation India – CFI, India s first institution dedicated to fulfilling the coaching needs of CEOs.


LUSHIN DUBEY

Visiting Faculty, Pillars of Inspired Leadership through Theatre

Masters - History, Delhi University, Prominent Theatre Artist

 

Lushin has done her Masters in History from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi, and a Masters in Science in Continuing Education with emphasis on Special education, from the University of Southern Connecticut, USA, Lushin Dubey taught mentally challenged children for several years in the U.S and India. In 1987, Lushin co-founded KidsWorld, which pioneered youth theatre in India and has staged over 30 productions in English and Hindi. She was also instrumental in setting up United Players Guild in 1995, focused on Shakespeare, whose 1997 production of Othello, with her in the lead role of Desdemona, won the Edinburgh Fringe First. In 2008, she played Lady Macbeth in Macbeth directed by Alyque Padamsee. Her two solos Untitled (on women empowerment) and Bitter Chocolate (on child sexual abuse), directed by Arvind Gaur, and her recent production Muskaan (a journey of two people living with HIV) have been staged across cities in India and venues abroad such as the World Bank, Smithsonian, Berkeley, Harvard, Stanford (USA), and Nehru Centre (UK). Lushin has acted the lead in several TV serials and films and was awarded the 2008 Gemini Award in Toronto, Canada for her role in the film Murder Unveiled. In 2009, she received two awards from Chief Minister Shiela Dixit: The Senior Journalists’ Award for Best Stage Actress – National, and the Radha Raman Foundation Award for Outstanding Commitment to Theatre. She was also recipient of the 2009 Karmaveer Puraskar for socially meaningful theatre by the Indian Confederation of NGOs. She is currently involved in staging, ‘Salaam India’, directed by her and inspired by the diplomat, Pavan Varma’s best seller, ‘Being Indian’, in cities in India and overseas. This production speaks about the Indian today keeping pace with the globalized world, without shedding its traditions of the past.


NITHYA SHANTI

Visiting Faculty, Happiness Workshop

MBA, XLRI, Spiritual Teacher, Inspirational Speaker and Corporate Trainer

 

Nithya Shanti supports leaders and committed individuals in awakening their own natural wisdom and applying it to their arena of influence. He is a spiritual teacher, writer, integral educator and modern-day sage. He is committed to sharing transformational principles and practices for true happiness with individuals, corporations, government bodies and international organizations He studied business management at XLRI, Jamshedpur and then worked in the field of Human Resources and Corporate Strategy. Since his teenage years he felt a deep yearning for spiritual growth and inner mastery. In 2001, he left his corporate career to ordain as a forest meditation monk in Thailand. For six years he underwent rigorous monastic training living with meditation masters in the remote forests of South East Asia.

At a certain stage in his practice he felt guided to shift his emphasis from secluded practice to engaged spirituality. With the blessings of his teachers he stepped out of the monk role so he could transmit the timeless principles he had learnt in a modern context. Nithya Shanti spreads happiness by example, by being a shining presence of joy and gratitude.

He is gifted in the ability to share profound teachings in light-hearted ways. His capacity to inspire, elucidate complex subjects and offer practical transformational teachings has been appreciated by friends around the world. Since 2007 he has been conducting workshops (which he calls “Joyshops”), meditation retreats and training programs in India, Nepal, USA, Singapore and Australia.

His achievements are diverse – he has taught at Columbia University (New York), coached CEOs, taught meditation and spiritual principles for happiness to psychiatrists, school and college teachers, jail inmates, senior government officials, security forces, etc. His work has been widely recognized and featured in leading publications and electronic media in many parts of the world. Some of his initiatives include The Happiest Days of Your Life Joyshop, Conscious Living Programs (for Organizations), the SMS Joyshop (Some More Smiles – for teenagers), Living Awareness Retreats, and many other transformational journeys. His vision is to share practical wisdom teachings in a joyful manner by creating a School of Wisdom for inspired living and learning. The essential purpose is “Spreading Happiness”.


SIMON GOLAND

Visiting Faculty, Whole Systems Thinking

M.A. – Leadership & Adult Learning, M.Sc. - Information and Systems

 

Simon is an educator and a facilitator, working with a diverse range of organizations, educational institutions, and individuals. His passion and experience is in the areas of adult learning modalities, creativity and innovation, organizational performance and resilience, leadership and personal development, cross-cultural intelligence, and sustainable development. He has been doing this work with a variety of organizations, such as Andersen Consulting, Ausenco, Australian Institute of Management, Australian National University, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Bainbridge Graduate Institute, and Royal Roads University (among many others). Simon has worked, lived, and traveled in Russia, Israel, Europe, North and South America, and a little bit of Asia and Australia, which allows him to keep enriching his experience through diverse cultural lens.

Simon holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Sciences (Israel), M.Sc. in Information and Systems Sciences (Canada), M.A. in Leadership and Adult Learning (Canada), and is currently completing a Ph.D. in Eco-Psychology (US).


SUSIE ROY

Visiting Faculty, Wellness

BSc. (Hons) Dietetics, University of Stellenbosch, South Africa

 

Susie was initiated to Wellness through the International Sivananda Yoga School in Kerala, India, Susie completed basic and advanced training programs. She continued her studies with several international teachers from different yoga traditions. She has done intensive workshops with international teachers such as her own teacher Mansoor with whom she has been working since 1999 in India and Switzerland (residential 8-day retreats three times a year), with Bob Smith in the USA, Clive Sheridan in the UK and most recently with Aadil Palkivala in the USA.

Basic postures, breathing and relaxation techniques form the core of her teaching of Yoga practice. Also included are techniques leading to meditation. She holds a BSc. Hon. Dietetics from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and a Diploma in Hospital Dietetics from the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.


VIJAYALAKSHMI VISWANATHAN

Visiting Faculty

MBA (Gold Medalist), FMS Delhi

 

She has around 25 years of experience in the fields of Marketing, Market Research and Executive Capability Development across organizations such as Asian Paints, Funskool (India), Mode Research and NIS Sparta Limited. Her experience includes marketing strategy development and implementation, marketing and social research, configuring training solutions, development and delivery of training programs for senior management.

As a consultant of long standing, Vijayalakshmi has trained and taught senior management of public and private sector organizations on leadership, strategy, communication, change management and instructional design and development. In addition, she has been a visiting Faculty at the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University.

At NIS Sparta, Vijayalakshmi was involved in the setting up of several new initiatives—the corporate training division, the insurance training division and the Corporate Research Centre of Instructional Design. She was also a member of the Executive Committee with profit center responsibilities, and Corporate Communications and Marketing.

Vijayalakshmi is an Engineer from College of Engineering Guindy and an MBA (gold medalist) from the Faculty of Management Studies of Delhi University. She also holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from Annamalai University.


DR. MILTON J. BENNETT

Visiting Faculty, Intercultural Communication

Ph. D, Intercultural Communication, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis

 

Milton is the founder and director of the Intercultural Development Research Institute co-located in Oregon, USA and Milan, Italy and was a founding director of the Intercultural Communication Institute in Portland, Oregon. He was a tenured faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies at Portland State University, where he created their graduate program in intercultural communication, and he is now an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Sociology at the University of Milano-Bicocca in Italy, where he teaches in the graduate program of Social Service Management and Political Policy.

He is on the faculty of several executive leadership programs and is a core faculty member in the IDR Academy curriculum of constructivist intercultural communication. He is known for originating the Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity and he is the co-author of American Cultural Pattern: A Cross-Cultural Approach, author and editor of Basic Concepts of Intercultural Communication: Paradigms, Principles, & Practices (published in English, Italian, and Chinese), and a contributing co-editor of the Handbook of Intercultural Training, 3rd Edition (also translated into Chinese). He consults with corporate and academic organizations in Europe, Asia, and the US on topics of multicultural diversity, intercultural competence, and global leadership.


DR. CLAUDIO DELL’ERA

Claudio is Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering of Politecnico di Milano, where he serves also as Co-Director of MaDe In Lab, the Laboratory of Management of Design and Innovation of MIP Politecnico di Milano. Research activities developed by Claudio Dell’Era are concentrated in the area of Management of Innovation. Specifically research interests are about two main streams: the former concentrates on innovation strategies developed by leading companies that operate in design-intensive industries where symbolic and emotional values represents critical success factors to generate competitive advantage (Management of Design-Driven Innovation); while the latter analyzes approaches and practices adopted during innovation processes by high-tech companies that face turbulent environments (Management of Technological Innovations in Turbulent Environments). He has published in relevant international journals, such as Journal of Product Innovation Management, Long Range Planning, R&D Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, Industry & Innovation, International Journal of Innovation Management. Claudio Dell’Era’s paper investigating the development of new services in turbulent environments won the Best Paper Award at the EIASM (European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management) International Product Development Management Conference in 2004.

Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities developed by Claudio Dell’Era concentrate on Innovation Management, Design Management and Project Management. DR. SVJETLANA MADZAR

Visiting Faculty, Managing Virtual and Multicultural Teams

University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management

 

Svjetlana is a Senior Lecturer in the Strategic Management and Organization department at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management and focuses on High Performance Organizations. She teaches International Management and Management of Groups courses in the MBA and executive MBA programs. She leads the virtual team project in the Global Executive MBA program and also teaches in this program in Warsaw, Poland. Prior to joining CSOM, she was an associate professor at Gustavus Adolphus College. Svjetlana has worked with a variety of multinational corporations on issues related to managing across cultures and has held visiting appointments in MBA and executive programs at European business schools such as HEC (France) and Instituto de Empresa (Spain). She recently taught in Fortune Institute of International Business in Delhi, India. Her research focuses on subordinate information seeking behavior in cross-cultural contexts. She is a recipient of a 2002-2004 National Science Foundation grant which allowed her to study the differences between US, Italian, Spanish, French, and British subordinate information seeking patterns of employees working for a large U.S.-based multinational company. Svjetlana earned her doctoral and master degrees from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of the Academy of Management and Academy of International Business.
