Leadership Series are organized by SOIL in order to facilitate interaction of students and industry leaders. It is also an opportunity for our students to learn different styles of leadership and understand their experiences and learnings.
As SHRM for GE India, David leads the HR function for all business within the GE India P&L as well as global platforms located in India. His broad responsibilities cover building a deep leadership pool within the country, developing a strong employee value proposition for GE in India, driving productivity and process excellence for common HR enabling processes and building a positive and upbeat employee relations environment across GE’s operating entities. He leads the GE India HR council and is a member of GE India’s senior management team. David joined GE in India in 1994, as HR Manager for the Global Consumer Finance (GCF) JV – Countrywide Consumer Financial Services Ltd.. Prior to that, he had worked at Modi Xerox Limited and American Express Bank in the areas of Sales, Marketing, Quality and Training.
In 1996, his HR role at GCF India was expanded to include Six Sigma Quality responsibility for the business. In 1998, David moved, to GE Capital India as Quality Leader, overseeing “six sigma quality” for all Capital’s businesses in India and later that year, was promoted to the role of HR Director, GE India. In 2000, David relocated to Tokyo to assume responsibility as HR Director GE Plastics Pacific. He later moved to Shanghai following the shift of GE Plastic’s regional headquarters to China. In 2003 he joined GE Money’s headquarters HR team as VP Global Organization and Staffing, based in Stamford, USA. After holding this position for over five years, In July 2008 David was named to his current role.
David holds a Bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Pune and an MBA in Marketing from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM) Pune, India. He currently resides in New Delhi with his wife and son.
