SOIL Premier League a.k.a. “Rahul & Gaurav Memorial Cup” was started in the year 2012, honoring the spirit of two SOIL students who lost their lives in an unfortunate road accident.

Those Last 10 Yards

I still remember how the campus was abuzz with excitement for the much awaited SOIL Premier League. Secretly, we had been waiting for this day since the time our seniors defeated us in a friendly match during the first week at SOIL.
Our team had performed exceedingly well to have reached the finals; however, it had come down to the last ball that would decide the Champions for SPL 2014. The defending champions required 2 runs to bask in the glory of their victory. It was time to deliver the last ball. What was playing on my mind was an Eminem track “if you had one shot, one opportunity, to seize everything you ever wanted, would you capture it or just let it slip?” True to the song, my palms were sweaty, knees weak and arms were heavy! I looked at my team mates and then paced to deliver the last ball of the match. Within a few seconds we were going to either jump with joy or sigh due to another defeat. I approached the crease the batsman came down the wicket and hit the ball as hard as he could straight to me. What followed was a dramatic end! With a flick of a finger the ball got deflected to the stumps. The non striker was standing out of the crease and the umpire signalled him out. We won by just one run. You may say, fortune favours the brave and we, as avengers, played like true brave heart soldiers
